First Stop of Zhejiang Mould Association’s Business Visit to Germany: Exploring KraussMaffei

From October 13 to 20, the Zhejiang Mould Industry Association organized a grand business visit to Germany, aimed at helping enterprises expand their international perspective. Led by Executive President Zhou Genxing and Secretary General Xu Yanzhi, the visit provided an in-depth understanding of the current development of Germany’s manufacturing industry, particularly in intelligent manufacturing technology under Industry 4.0.
The first stop of the visit included a morning tour of the German Museum of Technology, followed by an afternoon visit to KraussMaffei, a globally renowned plastic machinery manufacturer.
German Museum of Technology
The German Museum of Technology is currently the largest natural science and technology museum in the world, located on an island in the river at the edge of Munich. The museum showcases exhibits from various fields, including aviation, maritime, rail transport, and computer technology. It is considered the pinnacle of science and technology museums and is one of the earliest and largest technology museums in the world. The themes covered are diverse, including physics, chemistry, agriculture, resources, mining, metallurgy, metal processing, power machinery, automobiles, railways, tunnel engineering, highways and bridges, aviation, space travel, and chemical engineering.

In the morning, the delegation entered the German Museum of Technology. Inside the museum, members of the delegation were deeply captivated by the exhibits representing milestones of the Industrial Revolution, allowing them to experience the evolution of technology up close. These vivid examples provided a more intuitive understanding of the history of manufacturing and offered valuable references for subsequent enterprise visits.
KraussMaffei
The KraussMaffei brand originated in 1838, founded in Munich’s Schwabing. In 1930, Krauss merged with Maffei. The company was acquired by China National Chemical Corporation in January 2016 and has four series of injection molding machines: CX, GX, MX, and PX, with clamping forces ranging from 50 to 6000 tons, covering power sources including hydraulic, hybrid, and fully electric drives.

Upon arrival at KraussMaffei, Mr. Christian Krampfl, the Global Key Account Sales Manager, warmly welcomed the Zhejiang Mould Association delegation and briefly introduced the company's basic information and the latest research and development achievements and technological innovations in the injection molding machine field, including breakthroughs in energy conservation, consumption reduction, and improving production efficiency. Global Customer Sales Department's Xie Qi’er provided translation and assistance.

Afterward, a technical exchange took place, and both parties discussed potential future cooperation directions. Following the meeting, accompanied by Project Manager Li Wuyang and Global Customer Sales Department's Xie Qi’er, the delegation toured the factory. During the visit, Manager Li introduced the unique injection molding machine series of KraussMaffei—AX, CX, EX, GX, and MX—whose clamping forces range from 35 to 5500 tons, and the power sources cover hydraulic, hybrid, and fully electric drives, meeting the production needs of various fields.During the visit, members of the delegation discussed the current status of the injection molding machine industry, future development directions, and current challenges with Manager Li Wuyang.
Through this business visit to KraussMaffei, delegation members profoundly felt the rigor and excellence of German manufacturing. The outstanding performance of KraussMaffei in technological innovation, product quality, and production management provided valuable insights and inspiration for Zhejiang mould enterprises.
